Bones

The collection holds a number of geological specimens such as silcrete, porcellanite, argillite and quartz found in the Cromwell region.

The moa bones in the collection were largely uncovered at the Hawksburn Moa Hunting Camp site and in caves along the Cromwell Gorge before the flooding of Lake Dunstan.
